Pierce County recently released this free service which notifies you regarding emergiencies in your area. Fire, police, and other emergency response agencies send out up-to-date information on events that may affect you.
When you sign up for this service, you can select 5 areas that you would like to be notified about. These may be your neighborhood, children's school, or around your workplace. You can sign up for this service and receive alerts on up to 10 devices including your home phone, cell phone, text, email, etc.
